The Suffolk County Criminal Justice Addiction Workgroup (CJAW) was formed in 1999 to bridge the gap between treatment and criminal justice professionals. The CJAW has been organizing the Bridging the Gap conferences held on Long Island
This past year, the North East has endured some life changing events; these events have prompted us to organize a conference that will offer techniques surrounding professional self-care. All of us in both the treatment and criminal justice fields tend to prioritize the needs of our clients and forget to focus on professional self-care.
The CJAW is canvassing to identify professionals with an expertise in Vicarious Trauma, Secondary Trauma, Compassion Stress, Compassion Fatigue, and/or related topics.
The entire committee respectfully requests assistance in identifying professionals that may have an interest in presenting at our conference; planned to be held in the month of October 2013.
